Place des Arts' signage design draws on the emotions felt by spectators and artists immersed in the world of live performance. In addition to respecting the spirit of the site, our solution had above all to be functional, to mark out the entire area and to adapt to the site's evolution.

Uniting diversity, enhancing a sense of belonging

The focus of this project was to offer cohesive signage tools all throughout the site that reflect the brand image of Place des Arts, while also speaking to the multitude of different users passing through daily.

‍

The main objective of the project was to establish a wayfinding strategy via a relevant and consistent signage system to identify the site. Following an analysis of the issues and challenges of the program in place at the time, we developed a wayfinding strategy and identified a common thread between the targeted destinations, including the outdoor esplanade, the cultural foyer, the performance venues and the backstage areas.

‍

A strategy to unify the graphic language of the site was established through the integration of some of the architectural details.

This exterior and interior signage system was deployed using a range of elements that are flexible and modular, as well as standardized. A master plan and standards guide were also developed to guide future visual interventions. These standards also make it possible to control the manufacture of signage elements, thereby ensuring their quality and durability.
